Stephen B. Mackler, DDS, MS

 

                                Dr. Mackler is a native of Smithfield, NC, and earned his D.D.S.    

                                degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His post graduate 

                                periodontal training was completed at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Mackler served in the

                                US Navy and is currently on the adjunct faculty in the Department of  

                                Periodontics at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American College of

                                Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry

                                International, and is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Mackler enjoys cycling and international health care volunteering. He has served in Brazil, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Romania, Latvia, and Moldova. His wife, Leslie, is a Medical Librarian. They have one married son, Andrew, and three lovely grandchildren.

 

                               

 

                                    Neil D. Lutins, DDS

                    

                                    Dr. Lutins is a native of Roanoke, VA, and earned his D.D.S. degree at the 

                                    Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where he was valedictorian. His post

                                    graduate periodontal training was completed at the University of North Carolina

                                    at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar. Dr. Lutins served a dental

                                    residency in the U.S. Air Force at Carswell Regional Hospital in Fort Worth,

                                    Texas, and is currently on the adjunct faculty in the Department of Periodontics

                                    at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is also a fellow of the American College of Dentists.

 

Dr. Lutins is an active member of the following organizations: Guilford County Dental Society (where he served as president in 1991), North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association, North Carolina Society of Periodontists, The Southern Academy of Periodontology, and The American Academy of Periodontology.

 

Dr. Lutins enjoys running, snow skiing, going to the beach and especially playing the harmonica. He and his wife, Sue, love vacationing and spending time with his family as well as Sue's family.

 

 

                                

                                      Luis M. Benitez, DMD

 

                                      Dr. Benitez is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico where he earned a    

                                      Bachelor's degree in Biology (Cum Laude) before graduating from the

                                      University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine in 1990. He then obtained

                                      his certificate in Periodontology from Tufts Dental Medicine in 1992. While in

                                      dental school,  he was yearly included in the Dean's list, and received several 

                                      awards and recognitions which included: Certificate of Recognition from the

                                      American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the American Academy of

                                      Periodontology .  He was vested to join the Omicon Kappa Upsilon Honorary

                                      Dental Society and was awarded with the Dr. William Kramer award which is

given to the sole, most outstanding, overall student in the School of Dental Medicine in Puerto Rico. 

Dr. Benitez has been a noted speaker nationally and internationally in the field of dental implants and tissue regeneration. For the last 15 years he participated as an Associate Professor for Periodontology and Implantology at the University of Puerto Rico and has kept himself a vanguard in his profession with the inclusion of the latest dental advances and technology such as guided bone regeneration, and the utilization of platelets (PRGF) to enhance healing and regeneration. He is currently on the adjunt faculty in the Department of Periodontology at UNC-Chapel Hill.  He is a past president of the Puerto Rico Periodontal Association, and had been an active collaborator in the coordination of several congresses as well. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, International Academy of Periodontolgy, and the North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Benitez is committed to providing his patients with personalized and comfortable dental care in a relaxed environment with the optimal multidisciplinary periodontal services available. 

Dr. Benitez is a fulltime father of three children, and enjoys playing tennis, golf, snow skiing and all kinds of water sports.
